About our exceptional bartenders

Svetoslav Chochev worked in prestigious bars and restaurants across London such as Aqua Shard and GÔNG Bar at the Shangri-La The Shard. He participated in some of the biggest bartending competitions and qualified as a runner-up finalist for Back to the Roots 2019. He was also one of the UK finalists in the Beluga Signature 2020 cocktail competition and was most recently chosen as a finalist for the Best Mixologist Award 2024 by Bar Magazine UK. At the time, he was the Diageo Brand Ambassador for Bulgaria.

Pavel Pamukchiev worked as a bartender for over 15 years. In 2018, he had the great opportunity to win the local final of the most prestigious competition for bartenders and to represent Bulgaria at the global finals, where he ranked our country among the top 20 in the world. A year earlier, in 2017, he combined the two things he liked most – travelling and making cocktails – and founded the first-ever caravan cocktail bar, „Travel Cocktails“. Over the following five years, it had successful partnerships with brands such as Bulleit Bourbon, Johnnie Walker and Hennessy and served dozens of festivals throughout Bulgaria, mixing signature cocktails prepared with high-quality alcohol and seasonal ingredients.

About the tasting

Guests had the chance to taste three exquisite whiskies by The Singleton. To spark their interest, the tasting started with The Singleton 15 Y.O.; one could only imagine what the next two whiskies were. The Singleton boasted a refined, smooth flavour that perfectly complemented any dish. The rest remained a surprise.

The Singleton was a single malt whisky produced in Speyside, Scotland. It was crafted at three prestigious distilleries – Dufftown, Glendullan and Glen Ord – each founded in the late 19th century and united by a common goal: to produce single malts of outstanding taste that were balanced, enjoyable and easy to drink.

Using traditional techniques and the finest ingredients, The Singleton embodied the centuries-old skill of Scottish whisky-making. Every bottle of The Singleton reflected the distinctive characteristics of the Speyside region, resulting from a careful blend of tradition and innovation. Its unique flavour stemmed from meticulous ageing in casks and a rich spectrum of aromas. The Singleton offered an immersive sensory experience, drawing guests into the rich heritage of Scottish whisky.

About the cause

The St Andrew’s Black Tie Ball supported a noble cause every year. That year, it partnered with Operation: Teddy Bear.

The association „Operation: Teddy Bear“ ran the largest Christmas campaign in Bulgaria, dedicated to fulfilling the dreams of children and young people who were deprived of parental care, at risk, had disabilities, or came from socially disadvantaged families.

After years of visiting residential care homes, the team repeatedly encountered the same situation: talented young people with no opportunity to develop their abilities or build a normal future. This was why they created the year-round mentoring programme „The Hidden Talents of Bulgaria“. This educational project provided professional development opportunities to young people deprived of parental care or at risk.

The programme supported them in entering university or gaining qualifications and starting work by providing access to private lessons, training sessions, personal mentorship and psychological support, textbooks and equipment, scholarships, accommodation in student halls, and coverage of semester fees.

Over the previous nine years, the organisation had achieved remarkable results, with the first bachelor’s graduates, supported since their early school years, completing their studies that year. Operation: Teddy Bear believed that timely intervention in the lives of these young people could change the trajectory of entire generations to come.

In order to support even more underprivileged children in 2026, Operation: Teddy Bear relied on financial contributions. Guests could become part of the mission and help extend its reach even further.
